ABOUT /

We do one thing.
We do it well.

Semaphore Partners is a ServiceNow consultancy founded in 2019. ServiceNow is the only platform we work on, by design. Everyone on the team is a ServiceNow specialist. Every engagement sits inside a practice we know.

OUR STORY /

Started as a two-person shop. Still feel like one.

Jonathan Jacob and Toby Comer founded Semaphore in 2019 on one conviction: ServiceNow engagements fail on scope creep and offshore handoffs, not on the platform.

We've stayed small on purpose. Every client works directly with a partner. Nobody sells the work and hands it to a junior team.

Our anchor clients have been with us for years, because the relationship is the asset. Our retention rate is what happens when you don't finish an engagement and disappear.

WHAT THESE MEAN /

Two things ServiceNow checks, and why to ask about them.

A Product Line Achievement is ServiceNow's confirmation that, in one product line, a partner has certified lead consultants, a verified record of completed deployments, and customer satisfaction scores above ServiceNow's threshold. It's earned by the firm, not by individuals, and it has to be kept up.

A Validated Practice goes further. ServiceNow reviews the practice itself: how it's governed, how the team is built, how engagements are sold, delivered, and supported after go-live.

Certifications belong to people, and people move. These belong to the company, in the product line you're buying, and you can check them yourself in Partner Intelligence, the partner directory we built. Partner tier tells you how big a firm is. These tell you whether it delivers the thing you need.

ASK ANY PARTNER /

Four questions for a partner you're evaluating.

  1. 01 Which Product Line Achievements do you hold in the product line I'm buying?
  2. 02 What is your customer satisfaction score in that product line, and over how many go-lives?
  3. 03 Do you hold a Validated Practice there, and when was it last reviewed?
  4. 04 Will the certified consultants counted toward that achievement be on my project, by name?

HOW WE WORK /

The partner who scopes it delivers it.

Most ServiceNow engagements change hands twice: once after the sale, once after go-live. Ours don't. The person you scope with is in the room at every phase, and still there after go-live.

Semaphore The partner who scopes it delivers it.

The usual model Sell, hand off, deliver, leave.

One partner, start to finish Handoff

Jonathan Jacob

Jonathan Jacob

Co-founder & managing partner

Jonathan has worked in ServiceNow since 2011, when he was introduced to the platform while managing service operations at Hearst. He joined Fruition Partners as an architect in 2012, then spent the following years leading implementations for organizations including New York University, The New York Times, Harvard, MIT, Yale, and Princeton. He went independent in 2018 and co-founded Semaphore a year later.

His focus is platform architecture and data quality: designing implementations that hold up through years of upgrades and expansion. A significant share of his work is remediating implementations that have drifted from good practice. He holds ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect and implementation specialist certifications across the platform.

Outside work, Jonathan is a serious cook and coffee enthusiast.

Toby Comer

Toby Comer

Co-founder & managing partner

Toby studied electrical engineering at Bucknell University before moving into consulting, and was introduced to ServiceNow at Fruition Partners in 2012. His work there included IT transformation engagements at New York University, where he and Jonathan first worked together. He later went independent, then co-founded Semaphore in 2019.

Toby works across the platform: ITSM, HR Service Delivery, Customer Service Management, and custom applications. He specializes in integrations and in using ServiceNow as a development platform well beyond its out-of-box modules.

Outside work, Toby is a golfer and a devoted follower of his teams.

HOW WE WORK /

What you can hold us to

Direct delivery

The partner you meet in the first call does your work. The senior person doesn't disappear once the SOW is signed.

Fixed scope, not scope creep

We scope in writing before we start. When something changes, we talk about it before we build it. Scope creep is a scoping failure, and we own it.

Plain language

No methodology jargon to make simple work sound complex. If we can't explain what we're doing in a sentence, we're doing the wrong thing.
